WATER HARVESTING AND CONSERVATION PROGRAMME !!!!!!
Rainwater harvesting is the accumulation and storage of rainwater for reuse on-site, rather than allowing it to run off. Rainwater can be collected from rivers or roofs, and in many places, the water collected is redirected to a deep pit (well, shaft, or borehole), aquifer, a reservoir with percolation, or collected from dew or fog with nets or other tools.
THE USES OF HARVESTED AND CONSERVED WATER IN OUR SOCIETY !!
Its uses include water for gardens, livestock, irrigation, domestic use with proper treatment, indoor heating for houses, etc. The harvested water can also be used as drinking water, longer-term storage, and for other purposes such as groundwater recharge.
Rainwater harvesting is one of the simplest and oldest methods of self-supply of water for households usually financed by the user.
Kenya Red Cross is a non-governmental organisation and has partnered with several NGO’s to make sure that the initiative of water harvesting and conservation becomes a reality across the Kenyan nation.
OUR AGENDA AS AN ORGANISATION!!!
Due to current situation of heavy rainfall across the country , Redcross Kenya has partnered with several organisations and come up with a programme of distributing free water tanks with a capacity of 5000 liters to at least 1000 house holds per county to enable them harvest and store rain water for future use.
The tanks will be given out for free courtesy of non governmental organisations in and outside Kenya, the tanks will be given out based on first come first serve basis. Those interested are advised to book the tanks via our official website that will be given.
VISION AND MISSION !!!!
Tackling water shortage through harvesting and conservation of rain water by supporting communities with free water tanks.
